After years of collaboration between the international design magazine Elle Decor Italia and la Rinascente, the link continues and becomes stronger as it moves on from the annual event in Milan to the first one in Rome, at the new prestigious location in Via del Tritone.
On this occasion, Cantiere Galli Design contributed, for the first time in collaboration with Elle Decor, to supplying and creating surfaces for seven window displays. “Monochrome Stories”, is the name of the project designed by Elisa Ossino Studio that includes seven domestic scenes characterized by objects, furnishings and surfaces in strong colors. From the kitchen to the pantry, the living room to the dining area, and the bathroom to the garden, each window display shows how the power of colors can make domestic spaces more exciting.
Three-dimensional surfaces, textile backgrounds and dramatic curtains complete the displays designed to present the latest interior design trends in a new way.

Once again in 2019, Elle Decor Italia and Rinascente’s flagship store in Via del Tritone collaborated to host a designer installation, which was again created by Elisa Ossino Studio and dedicated this time to greenery and the outdoors. This second edition in Rome confirms the synergy between Rinascente and Elle Decor, which once again have focused on the capital city to discuss and promote design.
For the second year, thanks to the relationship it had already established with the publication headed by Livia Peraldo Matton, Cantiere Galli Design was delighted to contribute towards creating the project by supplying the coloured surfaces that bring life to the six marvellous window displays. Each one is dedicated to the many ways one can enjoy “outdoor rooms” and the intention is to make the public more aware of the natural world around them.
To mark the occasion, the world of outdoor design was combined with illustration. In fact, six different pieces of artwork for the six background scenes of the window displays were created by a variety of Italian and international illustrators: Angela Mckay, Andrea Serio, Rachel Victoria Hillis, Elena Boils, Amélie Fontaine and Beatrice Cerocchi. The result is a series of genuine works of art facing onto the street in a perfect dialogue between fashion and design.

In 2018, following on from the display windows in Rome’s Via del Tritone, Cantiere Galli Design and Elle Decor also collaborated in Milan. This marked the third edition of the “Elle Decor Grand Hotel” project. The main theme of the event was hospitality and hotels and it took place at one of Milan’s most lovely historic buildings, Palazzo Morando, halfway between the elegant Brera district and the lively Quadrilatero.
The designers invited to create the rooms at the Palazzo were Lyndon Neri and Rossana Hu, of the Italian-Chinese duo Neri&Hu. The project was inspired by Le Città Invisibili (Invisible Cities) by Italo Calvino, an imaginary journey that offered a narrative experience and an emotive perception of the space. Travel was therefore the central theme for this edition and, in particular, journeys to the Orient. Their simple displays perfectly represent the contemporary idea of China meeting the West.
Once again Cantiere contributed as a supplier and technical assistant in creating internal surfaces.

The first of the three Very Material People events, The Glass Night, on 28 February 2019 was dedicated to glass, the noble protagonist and among the most interesting materials for architecture and design, thanks to its capacity to be versatile, malleable, thin, resistant, fascinating and not least, transparent.
Partnering the event was the outstanding firm Mutaforma, which has been able to revive the capabilities of glass by using new technologies and strong research. Mutaforma creates micro-mosaics by using nanotechnology, which facilitates a high level of personalisation and extraordinary aesthetic potential.
The other partner for the evening was the international design brand Felicia Ferrone, which is based in Chicago. Guests at the event enjoyed sipping refreshments from her elegant and extravagant glasses, genuinely timeless pieces thanks to their refinement and exquisiteness.
Like at all VMP events, the fine food devised and prepared by Chef Max Mariola completed the evening, with a menu that was customised and chosen especially for the occasion.
Very Material People
A new communication format for 2019, conceived and curated by the architect Francesca Romana Straffi, a designer with taste and passion, who is involved in many areas of lifestyle, interior design, fashion, communication and projects. She herself defined the series as “experiences” that aim to consolidate the relationships between brand and audience.
The Very Material People series is dedicated to materials, each evening to a different one, celebrating the research, selection and consultancy in the field of interior design pursued with passion and consistency by Cantiere Galli Design.
VMP is a project that seeks to bring fine Roman work closer to its devotees and clients, taking the firm’s values towards a new world of opportunity. It is a world that includes not only those doing the work, but also a wider audience interested in developments in design, trends and the evolution of lifestyle. A world to be involved, enticed, engaged and made loyal with intelligence, ease and irony.

The second of the three events scheduled for the Very Material People series was The Rock Night, which took place on 12 June 2019 and was dedicated to stone. The absolute star partner for the evening was the firm Salvatori, which since 1946 has been collaborating with architects, designers and builders who offer not only practical support, but also new ways of using stone, often contrasting with traditional perceptions. The firm is synonymous with innovation, design and global excellence. It is admirable not only for its final products, but primarily for its research, which is an important element entrusted to the experience of loyal staff, and also for aspects such as design, trends and the environment.
Once again, Chef Max Mariola’s show cooking delighted guests and beautifully complemented the event with a specially chosen menu devised around the theme of “crunch”, in line with the general theme of the occasion.
